Is Being Happy Really Worth It?
Happiness.
A simple word, a universal emotion, yet so many have yet to achieve it. Being happy is often portrayed as the ultimate goal. A generation taught to study hard, go to your dream college, and eventually get your dream job all to achieve what? Happiness.
The harsh yet truthful reality is, happiness is temporary and as a defined, an “emotion”. I know what you’re thinking, “Are you telling me, I wouldn’t be happier in a brand new Porsche? Or living in a six-bedroom mansion?”…Ok, yes, having a brand new Porsche and a luxury home will boost your happiness and make life easier, but it’s all temporary.
We’re human beings, and we’re greedy, we want something, then we get it and then we want even more. I remember begging and praying for the car I now have, and after I finally got it, I felt empty.
Society is obsessed with taking mundane things and making them the center of our emotions. If you stop reading this blog and turn the TV on, I guarantee you some commercial will tell you about the newest car that’s missing in your life, or that brand new iPhone that will make all your problems disappear.
If you decide to buy that brand new Porsche or decide to settle on that luxury six-bedroom mansion (haha), then I’m happy for you, but please don’t make these things the center of your happiness. Don’t get me wrong, you will be much more content, and a lot of your problems will be solved, but what about your heart? Cars, luxury homes, and even the newest iPhone are amazing and fulfilling for your eyes, but please please don’t forget about feeding and investing in your heart.
From,
A happy person (Even without a Porsche)
